P.A.C.S 27th November - Welcome to P.A.C.S Blog!

Hi everyone and welcome to P.A.C.S (Performing Arts Club). Hopefully we (Abbie, Fran, Tegan and Verity) will be uploading a post at least once a week to keep you informed about the exciting things that are going on in the drama department as well as in the worth as theatre!

27th November...What did we get up to?
  • Abbie (Sixth form honorary prefect!) ran a name game so the new P.A.C.S members got to learn each others names. It got very confusing but everyone made friends and had a good laugh!
  • A classic game of 'Honey I love you'. The P.A.C.S. members found it a challenge to keep a straight face!
  • The P.A.C.S. students were then given the challenge to create an ending to a story given to them. The students came up with fantastic plot twists. What an imaginative bunch of kids!
P.A.C.S Students mentioned that they would like to see some websites about drama and theatre around Cowbridge and Cardiff:

Please see some websites that have information about upcoming productions!

HINT HINT...if you are looking for a Christmas present...WICKED is on at The Millennium Centre :D

If any of you don't know what Wicked is; Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popularGlinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba

Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda's unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power while Elphaba's determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. Here is a clip of the production...https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1qEc7t3mA8A

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the Musical

Theatre Royal Drury Lane  Nov 6th  2013

Based on the classic children’s book by Roald Dahl, this spectacular musical really ‘has to be believed to be seen’. Featuring an original score, impressive stage effects and beautiful visuals this is an enchanting West End musical. The show tells the story of a young boy, Charlie, who wins a golden ticket to tour the eccentric Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory. This brand new production takes a fresh look at the popular story, and displays Charlie’s world in a new and exciting way. With Act One focusing on Charlie’s bleak family life in which he dreams of winning one of Wonka’s ‘Golden Tickets’, Act Two shows the audience the inner workings of the beautiful factory. Mark Thompson’s impressive stage designs feature an incredible array of sets, props and stage effects that will leave you with your mouth wide open.

PACS Anti -Bullying Campaign. 'Happy Kids Don't Bully'

 PACS (Performing Arts Club)

Anti-Bullying Project

Recently several members of PACS took part in the filming of three short films about the bully rather than the victim of bullying. The message behind the films is that happy kids do not bully. You can access the films via the web address below.

http://www.eyepat.org/internetsafetytraining  (Film Links)

I am delighted that students from CCS took part in this worthwhile project. Drama teaches students to empathise with others and this project is an excellent example of how drama can help shape and mold the thoughts and ideas of the adults of the future.

Students will present two short plays next term as a part of Anti-Bullying Week.
